After retiring in 2016, I joined my sister, Sally Nystrom, in her studio and got back to making art. I fell in love with charcoal and strictly worked with it for about three years.
The still lifes are a combination of objects from around the studio and things from my home. Some of the objects are just pleasing to me, others have a deep connection to my life and my children. I began to oil paint in 2020. I used copyright free photographs and other photos that a friend gave me permission to use. While viewing my portrait paintings, I noticed how patterns come together and began a series of abstract paintings in 2023. |
